NuzPoke guide

How to add NuzPoke to OBS

OBS can display web pages inside a scene through a Browser Source. NuzPoke uses that feature to keep your team updated in real time.

1. Copy the correct URL

Open your run and select Stream. Before copying the link, choose sprites, names, types, background, transparency, layout, alignment and spacing. Once it fits your scene, select Copy URL.

The stream URL is view-only and different from the private admin URL. It is the only link you should paste into OBS or share with the person producing the broadcast.

2. Create a Browser Source

  1. In your OBS scene, select the + button in the Sources panel.
  2. Choose Browser Source and create a new one.
  3. Paste the NuzPoke link into the URL field.
  4. If the source covers the entire canvas, use the same dimensions as your base resolution, such as 1920 × 1080.
  5. Confirm and transform the source until the team sits in the right area.

The overlay page has a transparent background. When you enable card backgrounds in NuzPoke, only those cards receive color; the rest of the source still reveals the game and other scene elements.

3. Recommended settings

For a mostly static team with occasional animation, 30 FPS is usually enough. Choose 60 FPS only when you want the smoothest possible motion and your system has room for it.

To keep the overlay connected while switching scenes, avoid shutting down the source when it is hidden. It is also useful to disable automatic refresh when the scene becomes active: NuzPoke receives updates without reloading the page.

Before going live, duplicate the scene and test an addition, removal and evolution. This confirms that no animation covers the camera, alerts or important game information.

4. If the overlay does not update

  • Make sure you pasted the complete stream URL, not the admin URL.
  • Open the URL in a normal browser to verify the run loads.
  • In OBS, refresh the Browser Source cache once.
  • Confirm that the scene and source are visible and that no crop hides the team.
  • If you changed the link, replace the stored URL in the source properties.

Normal team changes do not require a new link. The same URL remains associated with the run.
